Not with what I've learned about head injuries. Not even sure if I'd let my kid do headers in soccer. Sadly, my parents care more about stardom than any long lasting effects from head injuries.Pathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01582990912598134354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21666786.post-61781667525514705092013-06-05T16:38:47.717-04:002013-06-05T16:38:47.717-04:00Every person has a characteristic about them that ...Every person has a characteristic about them that can be classified as mental "illness". Multiple personalities, depression, anxiety, shyness, stage fright, etc. could all be declared as some form of mental "illness". I put "" around illness because that word makes it seem like any person with some issues should be shipped off to some island like people with Leprosy once were. Yes, I absolutely agree we need to do more to help those with mental "illnesses". Yes, I also believe more should be done to help all of society be better people.

Maybe a new list of commandments:
1. Thou shall not bully someone to commit suicide.
2. Thou shall not make ex-pro athletes feel like they have nothing left to contribute to society.
3. Thou shall not make people feel like lack of money should mean end of life.
4. Thou shall realize there is no such thing as a "normal" person.
5.Thou shall not kill - ok that one stays.

We do need more support for organizations like NAMI and The Castle in Centerville, Ohio as well as research into what causes mental "illnesses". And maybe eliminate the stigma associated with it. My vote is we find a way to make society better people.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08386549046866272480noreply@blogger.com
