A Summer without Baseball

The sun is still high
In late afternoon sky
It's hot, but it's not
A breeze in late June.
The parade has long passed
For our game on the grass
The crack of the bat
I can't hear it.
Phil's shadow I saw
On our Holy Day's lawn
I thought, let's not
So I didn't.
Now summer's begun
And nobody's won
It's greed, not need
But I miss it.
