Aside from Sweet Lou (who we'd all love to see make a return to Cincinnati), who are the other candidates for succeeding Dusty Baker?
In 1970, the Reds were on the verge of making baseball history. They hired a largely unknown young manager, Sparky Anderson, to lead the charge.
Dave Miley, or maybe Pete Mackanin were modern-day Sparky Andersons, but they weren't given players who represented the Reds' future. They had to make do with what they had, and do as best they could. We know how it went.
The more I see the curious decisions Baker makes, the more I agree with those who are calling for his dismissal.
But... who should the next manager be? Are there any obvious choices - as was Dusty Baker when he was hired. Who are the hidden gems scuffling along in the minors who deserve a chance (as did Sparky Anderson).
Any thoughts? How about taking this and working it into a longer blog.
