Except for wins against the Deadbirds, Asstros, and Sausages, there is nothing more satisfying than winning a series against the Chub$.
What was great about this series was the pitching. Aaron Harang, Bronson Arroyo, and Kyle Lohse - yes, Kyle Lohse - all pitched well in the three game series. Arroyo was left in the game too long and Mike Stankton didn't shut it down for him, but Bronson, too, pitched well despite the loss. The pen - with the exception of what happened in the eighth of Bronson's game and Jared Burton's three walks - was excellent, especially Victor Santos, who faced both Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez twice and took the bats from their hands. No way this guy can be sent down when Eric Miltsuck comes off the DL. After three games, the bullpen has a 0.00 ERA. Not too shabby.
The offense was somewhat weak but was good enough for 11 runs. Dunner has a 3 game hitting streak going. It's early. I expect good things.
Now, onto the Pitifulsburgh Pirates to hand them some defeats. And thanks, Buccos, for sweeping the Asstros. Always nice to see them in the cellar, even if it is only the first week of the season!
